The main aim of the present study is the optimal use of urban brownfields in framework of sustainable urban development. In the present study the brickworks located in district 19 of Tehran City have been studied as brownfields. The brownfield expression is used in defining the urban spaces with previous industrial or service application, currently having negative social and environmental impacts as dilapidated space. In the framework of applied anthropology The central question is Can I use this opportunity to respond to the needs of the urban community? Is it possible to redevelopment of brown field based on the views of different interest groups? To address these questions, attempt has been made -through filed study and adopting a multidisciplinary approach .the brickworks' organizing possibility is investigated in five axes of social, environmental, economical, Traffic issues, Urban fabric and suitable solutions are provided.
